Properties
Appearance            off white to white powder
Melting Range        102-105°C
Boiling Point           190°C (0.3 mmHg)
Application
HQEE is a symmetrical aromatic diol chain extender. It can improve tensile, hardness, resilience properties to MDI-polyurethane elastomers. HQEE/MDI is a PU elastomer series parallels MOCA/TDI. Finished products as: oil well seals, forklift tires, conveyor belt, hydraulic cylinder seals and many other PU products.
LCU elastomers require two principle components: a prepolymer terminated with reactive isocyanate groups and a difunctional active hydrogen-terminated chain extender. Prepolymer is a product based on the reaction of polyester or polyether with isocyanate (TDI,MDI,ADI). The chain extender is usually a short chain of diamine or diol. MDI prepolymers are usually extended with diols.

Temperature
HQEE melt tank should be uniformly heated and mildly agitated to prevent skimming on the surface. The prepolymer should be preheated to 110ºC before the HQEE is added and the resultant blend should be maintained at 110ºC. All process lines should be heated to 110ºC (min.) and insulated to prevent cold spots that might cause HQEE aromatic diol to crystallize and clog the lines or result in an inaccurate mix ratio. The temperature of the mold, should be over 110ºC to prevent defects in the resultant elastomer.

Mix Ratio
With HQEE/MDI systems, the equivalent weight ratio of prepolymer to chain extender (NCO/OH)should be between 0.9/1 and 1.1/1. To achieve optimum properties in elastomers based on HQEE/MDI systems, it is suggested that the NCO/OH ratio be as close to 1.1/1 as possible.

Note
HQEE is off-white flakes and powder. It has a melting point of 102ºC and an auto-ignition temperature of 467ºC. HQEE is hygroscopic and should be stored in a cool dry place. To help prevent moisture absorption, desiccant agent is included in the drum. It is important that the drum and inner bag be resealed if only part of the HQEE is used. HQEE is also sensitive to light (UV) and will turn yellow or brown in the presence of light.

Packing and Storage
Packing    In 20kgs carton with polyethylene liner
Storage    Keep tightly closed. HQEE is hygroscopic and will change color under sunlight. Keep tightly closed and store in ventilated place. Keep away from moisture and sunlight
