Mahogany, as a kind of furniture raw material, is not a specific kind of furniture, but a collective name for rare hardwood furniture since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which belongs to China's only definition. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, following the definition of rosewood in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, China began to have a first impression of rosewood.
In recent years, the price of mahogany furniture has skyrocketed. "This standard is the first Chinese traditional hardwood furniture standard formulated at home and abroad, including mahogany." In addition, compared with the 2000 version of the mahogany national standard, the "General Technical Conditions of Mahogany Furniture" not only sets uniform specifications for product labels, but also supplements the product contract and clarifies the content covered by the product instruction manual. The new national standard will also require all sellers to provide after-sales service related to product warranty, product return, product charge conditions beyond the warranty conditions and warranty period after sales. At the same time, the biggest difference of the new national standard is that when entering the judicial appraisal, consumers and manufacturers must provide product instructions, product quality assurance card, product certification.

Yin Yafang believes that many companies want to stabilize the content of the existing national standard, and do not want to expand the scale. Regardless of any changes in the new standard, it should still follow the provisions of the current national standard, and there should be no contradictions, otherwise it may not be conducive to the further implementation and operation of law enforcement and quality inspection agencies. He pointed out that tree species that do not belong to mahogany are not necessarily bad. Enterprises can expand their product lines, but the tree species that do not belong to the existing national standard should be clearly stated, which does not hinder the sustainable development of the enterprise.
Yang Jiaju, a research expert in the wood industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry and the first drafter of the Chinese Redwood Standards, mentioned in an interview that the development and use of new mahogany tree species is a matter of time.
