Japan Introduces High-Efficiency Hydrogen Production Law to Expect Artificial Photosynthesis

According to Japanese media reports, the research groups of the University of Tokyo and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation of Japan announced that they have succeeded in decomposing hydrogen from water using “photocatalysts” that generate chemical reactions through light energy. In the future, they will also strive to produce organic compounds through the reaction of hydrogen generated by the photocatalyst and carbon dioxide to achieve "artificial photosynthesis." According to reports, the team will place two kinds of photocatalyst sheets made of lanthanum and lanthanum into the water, which can produce hydrogen and oxygen, respectively.

When the sheet was irradiated with light similar to sunlight, hydrogen and oxygen were obtained from two kinds of photocatalysts, respectively. The conversion rate of light energy to hydrogen conversion was up to 2.2%, and the average conversion rate per hour was 1.95%.

It is understood that the use of solar energy to produce hydrogen gas, although there are methods to use solar cells to electrolyze water, but this way without using electricity and relying solely on photocatalyst, the previous conversion rate was only about 0.1%. This is estimated to be due to the research team's random deployment of photocatalysts and their thoughts on raw materials, thus increasing conversion efficiency.

In this regard, the research team members, Professor Dongda Professor Tang Yicheng said: "If we can achieve artificial photosynthesis, we can reduce dependence on fossil fuels and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions that cause global warming."

Electric Angle Grinder

An angle grinder, also known as a side grinder or disc grinder, is a handheld power Tool used for grinding (abrasive cutting) and polishing. Although developed originally as tools for rigid abrasive discs, the availability of an interchangeable power source has encouraged their use with a wide variety of cutters and attachments.

Angle grinders can be powered by an electric motor or compressed air. The motor drives a geared head at a right-angle on which is mounted an abrasive disc or a thinner cut-off disc, either of which can be replaced when worn. Angle grinders typically have an adjustable guard and a side-handle for two-handed operation. Certain angle grinders, depending on their speed range, can be used as sanders, employing a sanding disc with a backing pad or disc. The backing system is typically made of hard plastic, phenolic resin, or medium-hard rubber depending on the amount of flexibility desired.
