Linear introduces the LT3437, a Class H step-down switching regulator. Operating from a continuous input of 3.3V to 60V, the device can withstand transient voltages up to 80V, making it ideal for automotive and telecom applications. Its 500mA internal switch provides up to 400mA of continuous output current at voltages as low as 1.25V. Burst Mode operation reduces the no-load quiescent current to less than 100uA, maximizing the battery operating time for always-on applications.
Class H devices are tested to ensure proper operation at 140 degrees junction temperature, while Class E and Class I devices specify a maximum junction temperature of 125 degrees. All electrical performance specifications for Class E, I, and H devices are the same. The LT3437 Class H device is ideal for automotive and industrial applications where high ambient temperatures are required.
