From January to May 2015, the output of ten non-ferrous metals was 20.704 million tons, an increase of 8.7% year-on-year. The output of copper, aluminum, lead and zinc was 3.085 million tons, 12.187 million tons, 1.674 million tons and 2.512 million tons respectively. Growth of 9.5%, 10.2%, -1.3% and 13.4%. The industry completed fixed assets investment of 216.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.04%, and aluminum smelting investment of 16.925 billion yuan, an increase of 11.6%. The average spot price of copper, aluminum and lead decreased by 12.2%, 1.2% and 4.6% respectively, and the average spot price of zinc increased by 8.5%. The industry achieved a profit of 63.17 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%, of which the profit of deep processing reached 32.44 billion yuan, accounting for 51.4% of the whole industry, especially the aluminum smelting industry turned losses into profits, realized profits of 660 million yuan, a year-on-year loss of 8.69 billion yuan. The number of loss-making enterprises decreased by 13.6% year-on-year. With the steady growth and structural adjustment measures, the demand for non-ferrous metals is gradually improving.
