At present, there are four aluminum alloy wire production companies listed in the procurement list of the State Grid Corporation of China, but there are more than ten companies that claim to have been able to produce and build.

Second, excellent products should be manufactured with good performance equipment. At present, there is only one type of aluminum continuous casting and rolling mill in China. In the future, various types of models should be developed. While foreign countries (such as the United States, Italy and other countries) have excellent performance of aluminum alloy continuous casting and rolling unit, but the price is high, the country should conduct a detailed comparison.
Aluminum alloy cable domestic application
At present, domestic aluminum alloy cables are mainly used in the fields of overhead conductors, large-spanning conductors, power cables, and communication cables. How are the developments in related fields?
It is understood that overhead transmission line with aluminum alloy cable currently has two major domestic series, namely aluminum - magnesium - silicon aluminum alloy cable and heat-resistant series aluminum alloy cable.
The former has been researched and produced in China for a long time. In recent years, the application of this type of wire product has developed rapidly. The manufacturer's production equipment is relatively advanced, and the technology has become increasingly stable. The product performance index has reached or exceeded the level of similar international products. Currently, five or six companies have been able to achieve stable mass production and volume supply. At present, the annual production capacity of aluminum alloys for overhead conductors (including supporting mature production technologies) is approximately 80,000 tons. In recent years, a large number of international orders have also been exported overseas. For heat-resistant aluminum alloy cables, the AT1 and AT2 types specified in the IEC 62004 standard have been applied in China and have been domestically produced. There are 4 domestic companies that have AT2 heat-resistant aluminum alloy production capacity. However, for AT3, AT4 ultra-resistant and special heat-resistant aluminum alloy wire, the domestic still in the study, did not form a complete set of production technology and production capacity. It is understood that Jiangsu Zhongtian, Hangzhou Cable, Aerospace Electrician and Qingdao Han cable have all walked in the forefront of related fields.
At the same time, with the successful development and mass production of high-strength (heat-resistant) aluminum alloy wire, high-strength aluminum-clad steel wire, and ultra-high-strength galvanized steel wire in China, our country's large-span wire has achieved localization, even if it spans. For large span conductors of 2.5 km or more, China can also produce its own products and fully realize localization. The application of large-span project wire in China has been formed with steel core aluminum alloy stranded wire as the main line type, and the construction scale is at the international leading level.
The aluminum alloy for power cables is mainly an aluminum-iron-copper alloy represented by the brand name 8030. It is reported that U.S. General Cable (China) established a plant in China in 2009, formed a production capacity, and explored and promoted the application in the Chinese market. Under this guidance, in recent years, the domestic market has seen surging trends and sparks. In 2012, the domestic annual output of aluminum alloy cables is about 2 billion yuan, about 30,000 tons of aluminum alloy conductors, of which about 500 million yuan is exported cable products. At present, major manufacturers in this field include U.S. General Cable (China), Hebei Klit, Wuxi Changfeng, Nanchang Cable, Anhui Xinyi, and Anhui Pacific. It is mainly used for domestic construction and corporate users, and part of it is exported to the North American market.
With the technical progress of copper clad aluminum wire, copper clad aluminum-magnesium alloy wire (generally below 0.40 mm in diameter) is used as an alternative to aluminum-magnesium alloy wire, and is widely used in program-controlled switch cable braids.
Industry insiders said that with the gradual application of aluminum alloy cables and the increasing acceptance of users, related products in this field will be increasingly recognized by the market.
Aluminum conductor cable market
Despite being praised by all parties in the industry, aluminum conductor cables still encountered greater resistance in the current market environment.
The United States, Canada and other countries have used aluminum conductor cables for nearly 40 years. The outstanding performance and cost advantages have been confirmed by the market. In China, all parties are clearly at the test stage: There are not many companies specializing in the production of aluminum conductor cables in China; most users hold tentative attitudes; although many industry experts are behind, they are ultimately not the ultimate determinants of the market economy.
