Qinghai organic solar cell development has made significant progress

Qinghai University used a high-altitude plateau plant to extract plant pigments for improving the efficiency of the battery. As a result, the optimized rose-colored sensitized cells improved the photoelectric conversion efficiency of monochromatic light by 16.1%, and the electron lifetime increased by 16.3%. In recent years, Qinghai Province has attached great importance to and actively cultivated the solar energy industry as a new focus for economic development, improving people's livelihood, and protecting the ecology.

The "Solar Industry Development and Promotion and Application Plan of Qinghai Province" proposes that in 2015, the solar energy industry will gradually become the fifth pillar industry in Qinghai Province after the four pillar industries of electricity, oil and gas, salt lake chemicals and non-ferrous metals. . The provincial science and technology department strengthened independent innovation and factor agglomeration. It started with development strategies, feasibility studies, and key technical issues. It organized and implemented a series of national and provincial science and technology projects to build a leading support system for solar energy industry development in China. The “Research and Development of High-Efficiency Organic Solar Cells” project is one of such projects approved by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology in 2011.

Due to the complicated production process and high production cost of traditional silicon solar cells, their large-scale application is limited; and organic solar energy materials and battery preparation technologies are expected to become one of the low-cost manufacturing options.

In order to obtain practical organic solar cells as soon as possible, researchers from Qinghai University conducted research on low-cost synthesis of natural sensitizers of plant-specific endemic plants, high-efficiency charge transfer, and collection of nano-network thin film structures. The project team selects high-altitude plateau plants and extracts plant pigments for use in batteries for the geographical features of the high altitude and long-time ultraviolet radiation of the Tibetan Plateau.

Through its photoelectric performance test, it was found that the dye sensitizers containing anthocyanins have better sensitization performance. Through the study of roses containing a large amount of anthocyanins, the optimized photoelectric conversion efficiency of rosette dye-sensitized cells increased by 16.1%, and the corresponding open-cell voltage reached 615 mV.

In view of the low charge collection and transfer rate in the battery, the influence of different conditions on the growth mechanism of nanomaterials was studied. The network structure and nanorods of zinc oxide dendritic nanowires with higher charge collection and transfer rates were studied. The array increases the electron lifetime by 16.3% and the electron diffusion distance decreases by 34.4%. The last project team used the above-mentioned materials to assemble a large-area organic solar cell with two structures in series and in series. Through testing, the electronic collection rate of the tandem structure battery has increased by 51%.
