British start-up company Molecular Solar is working on low-cost organic solar cells to charge smartphones.
The University of Warwick reported that the school has developed solar cells for the start-up company Molecular Solar, which can provide at least 4 volt equipment. The study believes that the next generation of low-cost solar technology will be applicable to consumer electronics. Imagine that a built-in solar charging device will soon be born. Devices such as mobile phones and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) receivers can be used.
Ross Hatton, research director of Molecular Solar, said that this is an important development. Today, organic light energy cells, which are already very close to a high degree of flexibility, can be used to charge lithium-ion batteries that are widely used in a wide range of voltage-sensitive electronic products. It is worth noting that this high voltage is only suitable for four-cell batteries.
Molecular Solar believes that the company's technology will be widely used in a variety of small devices, although it is not yet known when it will start. The company is now in the final stage of the fundraising, the amount of at least 8 million US dollars for the development of organic solar cells (OPV) and MS-Flexifilm electrode technology.
